Friends, neighbors, a community group, or coworkers. Pick a technology topic you want to understand better, and I’ll build a class or presentation around it. Plain English, room for questions, and examples you can use.
The point is to make your technology useful again.
I’m JP, and I live in East Burke, Vermont. I grew up in Canada and came to the U.S. for school in 1991. I’ve spent most of my adult life working here, and my wife, Stephanie, grew up in the Northeast Kingdom. This is home.
My background combines professional technology work with more than twenty years of coaching. Both involve listening carefully, figuring out where someone is getting stuck, and finding a useful way forward.
Before coaching became my primary career, I completed formal training in applied information technology and worked as a systems analyst and software developer, including as a project lead at Verizon. Later, at Green Mountain Valley School, I combined coaching with serving as Director of Technology. That meant helping roughly 140 users with everyday problems involving email, printing, internet connections, software, and failed hardware. It also included upgrading computers and devices, transferring files and settings to new equipment, and adjusting privacy and security settings to better protect people and their information online.
Those experiences shape how I approach personal technology help. Understanding the equipment is only part of the job. Explaining what is happening, making room for questions, and helping someone become comfortable with the next step matter just as much. You should be able to ask for help without feeling embarrassed about what you don’t know.
Through JPD Technology, I bring that approach to my local community in the Northeast Kingdom, and I'm happy to help anyone who wants their devices to be useful without having to become technology experts themselves. Whether something has stopped working or you simply want to understand it better, my aim is to help you solve the problem and feel more confident using what you already own.
