I grew up in Québec, and ski racing has been a central part of my life as an athlete, coach, and program leader. I represented Canada at the World Junior Championships before coming to the U.S. for school in 1991. At Dartmouth, I captained the alpine team and earned NCAA All-American honors. I’ve spent most of my adult life working in the U.S., and today I live in East Burke, Vermont, with my wife, Stephanie, who grew up in the Northeast Kingdom.
Over more than twenty years of coaching, I’ve worked with female and male athletes across the development spectrum, from developing juniors and FIS racers to provincial team and NCAA athletes. I’ve led both men’s and women’s programs, with coaching and leadership roles at Green Mountain Valley School, the Québec and British Columbia provincial alpine ski teams, Northwood School, Burke Mountain Academy, and Dartmouth College. That experience has given me a broad understanding of what athletes need at different stages and the decisions they, their families, and their coaches face along the way.
I understand how much has to come together behind the scenes to give athletes a productive training environment and a realistic opportunity to improve. Through JPD Ski Racing Services & Consulting, I offer that experience to athletes, families, coaches, and programs looking for practical help and an experienced outside perspective.
My approach starts with understanding you and your situation, helping you make sense of what your coaches are already telling you, and identifying what you can do, and how to do it, to get on track. You have questions about your skiing, your development, or the pathways to NCAA skiing and your national team? (those two paths are NOT mutually exclusive!) I’ve been fortunate to work with some incredibly hardworking athletes, and I’ve seen what helps them make progress and level-up their skiing on race day.
There is no secret sauce, and I’m not a guru. What I offer is experience, an honest assessment, and help figuring out your next step.
